Step by step on how to make a keyring prototype using Fusion360.
Click on “Create a Sketch” (1) and select any plane (2).
Click on “2-Point Rectangle” (3) and input measurements 65mm X 25mm.
Select
“Offset” (4) and click on the rectangle. Offset the sketch by -2mm.
Select
“Fillet” (5) and click on the 4 outer corners of the rectangle.
Type 5mm and press Enter.
Click on “Line” (6) to create a line down from the top to the bottom on the left side of the rectangle.
Select
“Dimension” (7) and click on both lines (circled in red).
Change
dimension value to 7mm.
Open
“Create” and click on “Point” (8) to create a point in the middle of the line
(Denoted by a triangle).
Type one short word with your desired font and adjust the
height to fit the rectangle. (Using “Alignment” (10) makes adjusting easier).
Once done click on “Ok”.
Click on “Finish Sketch”
After
extruding, click on the eye beside “Bodies” (12) to make sure it's white.
Next,
expand “Sketches” and click the eyes to make them grey.
From the extrude menu (13) select “Start” and change to “Offset” and
enter 3mm. Press “Ok” once done.
Click on the eyes for “Sketch” to hide them to show the finished
product.
And you’re done ;D.
For the second part, we were tasked to design a handphone holder in Fusion360 that can be laser cut. So what I did was search the internet for a simple laser cutter phone holder and got this image.
Hence I decided to use this image as an inspiration and base design for my phone holder. At first glance it looks like a whale to me hence I decided to replace the two pyramid shapes with my own whale design using fusion360.
So using the parametric design and I made a simple rectangle and played around with the dimensions to fit my phone which is an iPhone 13 Pro Max module. Next was using the fillet to curve the sides of the rectangle to make the head of the whale.
Next was using the Fit Point Spline to draw the remaining of the whale's body as well as the tail which was going to be used to place the phone.
After that, I just made holes for eyes and that was basically my final product. I then made a base, followed by extrusion at the base of the whale to fit the base and my design was essentially finished.
Doing the phone stand was definitely a challenge for me for I am still not used to fusion360, especially the 3-dimension mode which was complex for me to get used to and see. However with its about drive, it's about power, we stay hungry, we devour. With practice comes perfect so in the future I would go out of my way and practice more.
